BIO / NICK SEIFERT

Nick Seifert is an award-winning writer, editor, and educator whose published fiction has been featured in numerous places including Booth MagazineFourteen Hills, and the 2024 print anthology That’s Absurd!. As the former Managing Editor of The Amistad Literary Arts Journal, he expanded its readership and created unique opportunities for emerging writers and students. A dedicated teacher at Howard and Georgetown University, Nick has inspired countless learners to refine their creative voices. His scholarship includes a recently published peer-reviewed book chapter on experiential learning and creative writing in Teaching Humanities With Cultural Responsiveness at HBCUs and HSIs. Through his writing, teaching, and editorial leadership, Nick celebrates the art of storytelling while fostering vibrant and diverse creative communities.

Nick Seifert holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in Creative Writing with a fiction concentration from George Mason University and a Master of Arts in English from St. Cloud State University. 

Over the last ten years, Nick has actively taught many age groups from kindergarten to higher education in places all over the world. He has taught various subjects including literature, composition, and creative writing. 

Currently, Nick is a Master Instructor in the Department of English at Howard University in Washington DC. He is also served as the faculty advisor for the student run literary arts journal The Amistad.  Additionally, Nick teaches creative writing at Georgetown University. He has been nominated three times for Outstanding Professor in the College of Arts and Sciences by the Department of English at Howard University.  

Nick's latest print publications include, "The State v. Nathan Crane or: The Trial of Fill in the Blank" in the fiction anthology "That's Absurd!": The Literary Anthology" (2024) and "Using Experiential Learning to Elevate Black Voices: Analyzing Howard University's Journal, The Amistad"  (2023) - a double blind peer reviewed chapter - in the book Teaching Humanities With Cultural Responsiveness at HBCUs and HSIs. His most recent work was in Flash Fiction Magazine (2025).
